VACANCY NOTICE

Lupane State University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following posts:

1. VICE-CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE

1.1 Innovation Lead (Tech-Hub) – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Production Engineering or related field.
  • Bachelor of Technology in Production Engineering/Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Higher National Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
  • Journeyman Class 1 Certificate in Boiler Making/Fabrication or Fitting and Machining.
  • Minimum of one year experience in research, innovation, and/or engineering technology industry.
  • Knowledge of engineering and technology practices, application, and emerging technologies.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property rights is an added advantage.
  • Possession of a PhD is an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate innovation in engineering and technology fields.
  • Provide mentorship and technical advice on product development.
  • Collaborate with departments and industry for intellectual property identification.
  • Promote the commercialization of research.
  • Facilitate technology transfer to industry.
  • Negotiate technology-related licenses and agreements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

2. BURSAR’S DEPARTMENT

2.1 Principal Accountant, Salaries – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance or related.
  • Four years post qualification experience.
  • Experience in salary administration; Master’s degree is advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check payroll postings for accuracy.
  • Ensure correct deductions and classifications.
  • Manage payroll for resigning employees.
  • Oversee part-time schedules and leave days.
  • Ensure timely payment of retention and transport allowances.

2.2 Principal Accountant, Student Accounts – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance or related.
  • Five years post qualification experience.
  • Experience in Pastel and Paywell packages is advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage student accounts and liaise on overpayment issues.
  • Reconcile funds and maintain records.
  • Update student records and assist with queries.

2.3 Assistant Accountant, Payment Section – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.
  • Four years post qualification experience.
  • Familiarity with Pastel and Paywell packages is advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payment vouchers and maintain records.
  • Manage bank reconciliation and asset records.

2.4 Chief Accounting Assistant – 3 Posts

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Higher National Diploma in Accounting plus five years’ experience or Bachelor of Commerce degree with one year post qualification experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain asset register, compliance to internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure proper documentation for payments.

2.5 Senior Accounting Assistant, Canteen Section – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Accounting.
  • One year post qualification experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payment vouchers, maintain cash books, and ensure detail accuracy.

2.6 Chief Secretary – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Secretarial Studies; five Ordinary level passes including English.
  • Three years for Senior Secretary; five years for Chief Secretary role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Deputy Bursar’s diary and administrative tasks.

2.7 Graduate Trainee – 3 Posts

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle payment processing and support various financial tasks.

3. INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES

3.1 Library Systems Analyst – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least one year relevant experience as a Systems Analyst.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage library systems, provide technical support, and ensure data security.

4. REGISTRAR’S DEPARTMENT

4.1 Security Guard – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5 “O” Level passes including English.
  • Certificate in security or military training; two years security field experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Protect university assets, conduct patrols, and enforce safety regulations.

5. FACULTY OF COMMERCE

5.1 Chief Secretary – 1 Post

Qualifications and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Secretarial Studies or equivalent.
  • Five years post qualification experience in a university setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage communication within the faculty and organise meetings.
