2025 Burnett Scholarship for Zimbabwean nationals to study at the University of Kent (UK)

The Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) at the University of Kent is excited to announce the inaugural Burnett Scholarship scheme for the academic year 2025/6.

This scholarship is aimed at applicants from the KAZA region, specifically Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Funded by the Notsew Orm Sands Foundation, up to six scholarships will be offered for this year, with the same opportunity available next year.

Scholarship Details:

  • The scholarship covers full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, and travel expenses to and from the UK.
  • It is intended for the taught MSc in Conservation Science, which will begin in September 2025.
  • The fully funded scholarships include a UKRI stipend (2024/25 rate is £19,237, with 2025/26 rates to be announced later) and tuition fees at the Overseas rate.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a national of, or hold official refugee status in, one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, or Zimbabwe.
  2. Possess a minimum of two years of work experience in the conservation sector.
  3. Hold a good undergraduate degree with at least a UK 2:1 classification or an equivalent qualification.
  4. Meet the UK Visas and Immigration regulations as well as the University of Kent’s English language requirements.

Application Process:
Interested applicants must submit:

  • A 1-page cover letter outlining their interest and qualifications.
  • A 2-page CV detailing their educational and professional background.
