Position Overview
We are excited to invite applications for the role of Head of Operations based at our camp in Hurungwe. This position is integral to the success of our operations in the reserve, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and the overall impact of our initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Head of Operations will oversee all operational aspects within the reserve, ensuring the effective protection of wildlife and habitats while engaging with the community and rangers.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Management: Oversee security operations within the reserve and adjacent areas.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with the Reserve General Manager and key operational staff to develop and implement work plans and budgets.
- Impact Monitoring: Monitor community and biodiversity activities, ensuring measurable positive outcomes.
- Legal and Ethical Operations: Ensure that all anti-poaching and ecological conservation activities are conducted lawfully and ethically.
- Community Engagement: Implement the community strategic plan to promote reserve management and conservation success.
- Crisis Management: Prepare for emergencies and coordinate response efforts with local authorities.
- Financial Oversight: Manage department budgets and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
- Human Resource Management: Support staff development, conduct performance reviews, and mentor team members.
- Reporting: Compile operational and incident reports as per Akashinga standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure activities meet Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Recognized qualification in Ecology, Environmental Science, or Wildlife Management.
- Experience: 8 years of relevant experience in nature reserve management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web applications; clean driver’s license is mandatory.
