Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the position of Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs.

This role will report to the Registrar and is integral to leading the Academic Registry to ensure effective operations and compliance with university policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operational effectiveness of Student Admissions, Registration, Student Records Management, Examinations Office, Certification, and Graduation.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the Academic Registry section.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of all academic records of current and former students.
  • Provide strategic advice to University Management and Committees regarding academic affairs.

  • Draft, publish, and manage examination and academic timetables.
  • Develop secure student data files and establish policies for responsible use.
  • Organize academic ceremonies including preparation and execution.
  • Develop, interpret, and enforce policies related to academic affairs.
  • Monitor the University’s academic plans in line with strategic goals.
  • Assist in the creation of academic regulations and policies.

  • Manage and monitor the academic registry departmental budget.
  • Maintain up-to-date module schedules, catalogues, and final examination schedules.
  • Develop and synchronize the Academic Calendar with other University activities.
  • Identify new trends affecting academic affairs administration for risk assessment.
  • Handle academic enquiries and queries effectively.
  • Supervise degree audit systems.

  • Compile periodic reports and statistics concerning academic affairs.
  • Serve Senate and Academic Board Committees.
  • Manage junior staff within the Registry Section.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs, Research and Administration), and the Registrar.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in an Administration-related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a Senior Management position.
  • Prior experience as an Assistant Registrar, Senior Assistant Registrar, Senior Administrator, or above for no less than five years.

  • Strong ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently, as well as being a collaborative team player.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, strategic planning, and team leadership skills.
