About the Role:
IUCN Zimbabwe is seeking a high caliber Finance Assistant to support the implementation of two main projects: the IKI CBA project and the SADC TFCA project.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Grants Finance Officer to ensure the smooth operation of these projects, providing high-quality financial reporting and accounting services, and adhering to both donor and IUCN policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with tracking and monitoring of grantee financial reporting deadlines and send reminders to grantees as needed.
- Review and support grantees in correcting reported financial data for processing.
- Verify that financial reports are supported by appropriate documentation and adhere to donor requirements.
- Assist in resolving queries and discrepancies with grantees.
- Perform daily recording of accounting data into the accounting system for all transactions generated.
- Maintain project physical and online filing systems, liaising with the Senior Grants Finance Officer to ensure completion.
- Liaise with the Senior Grants Finance Officer to organize project audits, review internal reviews, and arrange for the timely provision of required information.
- Assist with payment preparation and processing as needed.
- Provide capacity building to non-finance staff on IUCN and donor financial management policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- University degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Part CIS, ACCA, CIMA.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Minimum of three years of working experience in a similar role in the NGO/development sector.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software (preferably Microsoft Dynamic NAV ERP system).
- Good understanding of accounting principles and experience in budget development, monitoring, and reporting.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
