Midlands State University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following academic position within the Faculty of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following five main categories:
- Teaching: Deliver lectures and engage in teaching activities according to departmental and faculty guidelines.
- University Service: Participate in departmental, faculty, and university activities, including meetings, workshops, and conferences.
- Research: Engage in active research in your area of specialization that benefits both students and the university.
- Innovations: Lead initiatives that yield tangible products and services.
- Industrialization: Contribute to the commercialization of research products.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- A Bachelor of Education Honours Degree in Early Childhood Development and Child Protection (or its equivalent) with a minimum of a 2.1 pass.
- A Master of Education Degree in Early Childhood Development and Child Protection (or an equivalent qualification).
- A Ph.D. or proof of enrollment in a Ph.D. program focused on Early Childhood Development/Education.
- A recognized teaching qualification.
- Relevant experience teaching at the university level will be an advantage.
Competencies & Responsibilities
Candidates must demonstrate the following competencies:
- Commitment to the university’s mission, engaging in teaching, research, community engagement, innovation, and industrialization.
- Leadership capability within the department, initiating and guiding applied and fundamental research efforts.
- Proficiency in teaching Early Childhood Education modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Ability to supervise and assess undergraduate and postgraduate research, including work-related learning assessments.
