\The organization aims to improve income and nutrition for the poorest rural populations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. With a continuous presence in Zimbabwe since 1980, Welthungerhilfe implements projects across five provinces, focusing on Food and Nutrition Security, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and Emergency Response when necessary.

Position Summary:

The Programme Development Officer will provide crucial field support for the project and program activities under Welthungerhilfe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Identification and Assessment: Identify, examine, and assess new project ideas based on country/regional programs and ensure compliance with Welthungerhilfe’s quality standards during project planning.
  • Project Documentation: Prepare internal project documents in coordination with finance units, including cost and financing plans.

  • Co-financing: Research co-financing options, negotiate agreements, and prepare co-financing applications.
  • Implementation Control: Monitor project implementation according to Welthungerhilfe’s standards and address deviations promptly.
  • Reporting: Ensure timely reporting of status and financial reports to Head Office and co-financers.

  • Planning and Evaluation: Involve in planning studies, evaluations, and audits, and ensure implementation of recommendations.
  • Program Development: Contribute to the planning and development of country and regional programs, including medium-term financial planning.
  • Partner Advisory: Advise partner organizations on organizational matters and quality instruments in program implementation.

  • Capacity Building: Identify training and development needs for partner organizations.
  • Stakeholder Representation: Represent Welthungerhilfe to national and international bodies, and participate in relevant coordination committees.
  • Information Sharing: Provide updates about economic and social developments in project regions to senior management and participate in PR activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Undergraduate qualification in a development-related field (e.g., agriculture, food security); a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in designing and implementing food security programs, preferably in developing countries.

  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of agriculture, livelihoods, and nutrition.
    • Strong representation and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in program design and proposal development.
