Project Overview:
The Project Engineer will provide technical guidance in the design, implementation, and certification of water and sanitation infrastructure in compliance with national and international standards.
Responsibilities include assessing needs, developing appropriate technologies, coordinating with stakeholders, conducting water quality testing, supervising the construction of resilience-oriented structures, training community members, and ensuring adherence to relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Design:
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies and pre-check surveys in collaboration with relevant government departments to define project scope.
- Generate Bills of Quantities (BoQs), financial budgets, and technical designs.
- Contribute to procurement planning, including technical specifications and delivery timelines.
- Support proposal development by providing technical guidance to field assistants.
Training and Capacity Building:
- Train community asset management members and staff on construction standards, operation, and maintenance of developed or rehabilitated infrastructure.
Project Implementation and Supervision:
- Supervise contractors and community members during project implementation.
- Monitor project hardware and resource use, ensuring compliance with budgets.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Facilitate collaborative progress monitoring with relevant government technical departments and local authorities.
- Prepare completion certificates for endorsed assets by communities and governmental authorities.
Coordination and Communication:
- Organize learning visits with project partners to promote effective knowledge sharing.
- Facilitate the handover of completed livelihood assets to communities and stakeholders.
- Maintain asset registers for Non-Food Item (NFI) materials at project sites and prepare disposal plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 4-6 years of demonstrated experience in engineering for community development projects or a related field, with a focus on project lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and facilitate collaboration.
- Strong communication skills for effective information exchange.
- Advanced report writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical information.
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
