The Avenues Clinic is a Grade-A multidisciplinary Private Hospital dedicated to inspiring healthier communities by providing a wide range of specialist healthcare services backed by outstanding nursing care to achieve excellent clinical outcomes.
We have openings for Hospital Admissions Clerk positions (3 vacancies).
The Role:
- Receive and schedule hospital bookings from doctors’ rooms and other medical institutions, recording them on the admissions list.
- Assess potential hospital admissions from walk-in patients and evaluate their condition for triaging.
- Verify that admissions/casualty forms are correctly completed; fill in admission/casualty forms for incoming patients.
- Capture patient details, post payments, and generate a hospital number in the Hospital Management System.
- Handle inbound and outgoing telephone inquiries from potential patients.
- Verify required deposit amounts using the Approved Deposit List for procedures/diagnoses and inform patients accordingly.
- Confirm payment with Cashiers before bed allocation for admitted patients.
- Seek medical aid pre-authorization to ensure only patients with benefits are admitted.
- Check Health263 system to determine if a patient is an active member of their medical funder and inform them of any shortfalls; process biometric verification as applicable.
- Receive payments and issue receipts for all transactions.
- Attend to inquiries from patients and other stakeholders, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Reconcile and complete banking forms at the end of each shift.
The Person:
- Diploma in hospital management or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical service setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and billing procedures is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Strong attention to detail when processing paperwork or entering data.
- High degree of professionalism and reliability.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
