Purpose of the Role:
The Accounts Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions within ABC Auctions.

This position requires accountability for accurate reporting of expenditures across departments and ensuring timely processing of all payments.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Maintain daily postings in Pastel to ensure accuracy and balance.
  • Track bank transactions for consistency.
  • Manage bank-related inquiries and accurately process outgoing payments.
  • Update monthly ad-hoc postings in Pastel.

  • Verify and ensure all expense documents are submitted with accurate information and required documentation.
  • Administer wage payrolls.
  • Complete monthly financial reports.
  • Assist in calculating final accounts and prepare supporting audit files.
  • Help prepare monthly management accounts, including analytics and recommendations.
  • Contribute to budget tracking and expense profile analysis.

  • Accurately handle calculations for all statutory requirements and stay informed about changes affecting compliance.
  • Be willing to assist with additional tasks within the accounts department.
  • Complete and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to superiors as required.
  • Review and check the work output of junior staff members.

Hiring Standards:

Education:

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance
  • Alternatively, relevant experience (minimum of 3 years in a similar role)

Experience:

  • Proven accuracy in processing significant transaction volumes
  • Familiarity with maintaining accounting standards
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
