Midlands State University is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Grants and Consultancy Officer within the Research and Innovation Office.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • A Master’s Degree in Project Management or Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in grants and consultancy management, with a proven track record in pre-award and post-award processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for engaging effectively at all levels within and outside the University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage external funding sources and maintain relationships with sponsors.
  • Advise and guide researchers on grant and consultancy funding policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Identify and facilitate research and innovation funding opportunities.

  • Support academic staff in developing and preparing research proposals, contracts, subcontracts, and agreements, including budget formulation and compliance.
  • Lead workshops focused on grant writing, development, and compliance.
  • Coordinate grant and consultancy sub-awards and oversee post-award processing.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects within budget and to expected standards.

  • Collaborate with the Bursar Division to monitor funding, assess procurement requests, and ensure accurate financial and narrative reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports in conjunction with the Bursar and ensure compliance with institutional and funder policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
