The Zimbabwe School of Mines seeks qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer in Geology.
Position: Lecturer – Geology
Location: Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
Closing Date: 29 January 2025
This role involves delivering high-quality education and training in geology, enhancing students’ skills through competency-based learning, and contributing to the academic and research agenda of the school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute lecture plans up to Higher National Diploma (HND) level.
- Assess student coursework and projects at the HND level.
- Prepare and grade examinations.
- Contribute to the design of departmental syllabi and courses.
- Utilize effective pedagogical techniques relevant to geology.
- Identify research projects and alternative funding sources.
- Foster an interdisciplinary research culture within the school.
- Conduct geology learning activities and practical sessions.
- Implement projects aimed at generating additional income for the school.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related field (a postgraduate qualification is preferred).
- Strong familiarity with the geology landscape of Zimbabwe.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- At least three years of relevant experience in the mining industry.
- Advanced research skills and experience in project development.
