The Climate Parliament is seeking a part-time consultant for the position of Policy Coordinator based in Zimbabwe.
The role involves collaborating on the “Parliamentarians for Climate Finance” project, which aims to enhance public and private green investments in 15 African countries, including Zimbabwe, over the next 18-21 months.

About Climate Parliament:
Climate Parliament is an international, multi-partisan network of legislators dedicated to combating climate change and protecting the environment.
Primarily focused on the Global South, we have successfully influenced renewable energy policies and created impactful climate diplomacy initiatives.
Project Overview:
We are launching a new initiative called “Parliamentarians for Climate Finance” in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) across 15 African countries. This project, supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), aims to enhance public and private green investment by empowering legislators with knowledge and resources related to climate finance.
Participating countries include Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
A key aspect of this initiative is the establishment of Green Zones in each country to attract investments in sustainable sectors such as solar, wind power, and the green production of hydrogen and other essential materials.
Position Summary:
The Policy Coordinator will play a vital role in engaging with Members of Parliament (MPs) in Zimbabwe, helping to bolster capacity and create a framework for legislative interventions. Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with MPs through meetings and discussions.
- Conducting research on national policies and creating a country profile.
- Drafting policy briefs and developing toolkits for legislative use.
- Collaborating with local and international experts.
- Organizing workshops and facilitating sessions.
- Contributing to digital communications (website and social media).
- Performing administrative tasks as needed.
- May require travel for events.
Qualifications:
Mandatory Requirements:
- Relevant university degree.
- Thorough knowledge of energy policy.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Several years of relevant experience.
- Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to work independently.
- Right to live and work in Zimbabwe.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Over 3 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with climate finance and renewable energy.
- Knowledge of green technologies and climate science.
- Experience in development work in Africa.
- Competent IT skills and experience with social media.
- Knowledge of economic or energy modelling.
- Fluency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese.
- Previous experience working with the Parliament of Zimbabwe.
- Fund-raising experience.
