Position Summary:
The Research Assistant (RA) will join the Strategic Information, Evaluation, and Learning (SIEL) team. Under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Advisor, the RA will be responsible for finding and applying for research and implementation science consultancy opportunities, developing research funding proposals, and carrying out operational research.
The role includes supporting the development of research data management tools, managing research data collectors, performing data collection and analysis, and producing reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scout for research and implementation science consultancy opportunities in various platforms.
- Apply a decision matrix for evaluating consultancy funding opportunities.
- Draft and develop research consultancy concept notes for supervisor review.
- Assist in creating research proposals, data collection tools, and necessary regulatory documents.
- Help submit study protocols for ethics committee review.
- Support the creation of study work plans, budgets, and standard operational procedures (SOP).
- Aid in recruitment, training, and deployment of data collectors.
- Engage in data collection, cleaning, transcription, analysis, and storage.
- Implement research data quality assurance initiatives.
- Draft study reports, presentations, conference abstracts, and manuscripts.
- Ensure compliance with ZHI and regulatory guidelines regarding human subjects research.
- Assist in disseminating research results through relevant channels.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in public health, biostatistics, or demography with at least 2 years of relevant research experience.
- Proven experience in both quantitative and qualitative research design and implementation.
- Proficient in statistical software such as STATA, SPSS, or Epi Info for data management and analysis.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate research projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills, including documentation, report writing, presentations, proposal writing, and publication.
