Midlands State University is inviting applications for the following positions in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Geosciences at the Zvishavane Campus.

Positions Available:

1. Pyrometallurgical Engineer – Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (1 Post)

Qualifications:

  • A first degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field with at least a 2.1 pass.
  • A relevant MSc/MEng.
  • A relevant PhD will be an added advantage.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaching modules in Pyrometallurgy (Ferrous and Non-Ferrous), Refractories, Metallurgical Thermodynamics, and related fields.
  • Assisting undergraduate students and assessing their performance on Work Related Learning.

2. Physical Metallurgy – Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (1 Post)

Qualifications:

  • A first degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field with at least a 2.1 pass.
  • A relevant MSc/MEng.
  • A relevant PhD will be an added advantage.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaching modules in Physical Metallurgy and related fields.
  • Assisting undergraduate students and assessing their performance on Work Related Learning.

General Duties and Responsibilities for Lecturers:

  • Teaching: Deliver lectures and facilitate learning following departmental and faculty standards.
  • University Service: Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university activities including meetings and seminars.

  • Research: Engage in ongoing research that enriches both student experience and university knowledge.
  • Innovations: Develop new products and services through innovative approaches.
  • Industrialization: Work towards the commercialization of engineering products.
