HARARE, Zimbabwe – Aspiring drone pilots across Zimbabwe can now set their sights on the skies with the official launch of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) training program at the ZESA National Training Centre (NTC).
The centre has received a prestigious designation as an RPA Approved Training Organization (RPA ATO) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ), marking a significant step forward for the advancement of RPA technology and safety within the nation.
This authorization positions ZESA NTC as a leading institution for those seeking to acquire the necessary skills and certification to operate drones responsibly and effectively.
The newly accredited program will offer CAAZ-certified Remote Pilot Licence (RPL) training, delivered by licensed professionals with expertise in both the theoretical and practical aspects of drone operation.
Who Should Apply?
The program is specifically designed for individuals aiming to obtain a Remote Pilot Licence for Multi-rotor aircraft operating under Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) and Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS) conditions.
Key components of the curriculum include comprehensive theoretical knowledge training covering regulations, airspace, meteorology, and drone systems, alongside extensive practical skills training to develop proficiency in flight maneuvers and safe operating procedures.
To be eligible for this groundbreaking training opportunity, prospective applicants must meet specific pre-entry requirements.
These include being at least 18 years of age, demonstrating a Level 4 English language proficiency (evidenced by a pass in O’ level English), and providing a certified copy of their national identification.
Programme Dates
Important dates for the inaugural training session have been announced. The program is scheduled to run from the 12th to the 24th of May, 2025, and will be held at the ZESA National Training Centre located at Munyati Power Station, Munyati.
The deadline for submitting applications is set for the 9th of May, 2025.

Individuals interested in enrolling in this pioneering program are required to submit an application letter along with certified copies of their National ID and O’ level certificate showing a pass in English.
