Supporting Locally Driven Clean Energy Projects in Southern and Eastern Africa: The Energy and Environment Partnership (EEP) Africa is excited to announce the launch of the Call for Proposals 2025, providing grant financing and technical support to innovative clean energy projects in the region.
Eligible Applicants:
Private companies, start-ups, and social enterprises from any country in the world are invited to apply. Projects must be based in one or more of the EEP Africa target countries: Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Types of Projects:
EEP Africa supports early-stage, locally driven innovative clean energy projects that are in active development. The following project types are eligible:
- Feasibility studies and pilot projects
- Replication and scale-up projects
- Projects promoting residential electricity access, productive uses of energy, mini grids, power generation, clean cooking, mobility (electric and/or fuels), and energy efficiency
Application Timeline:
- Expression of Interest (EoI) deadline: 21 March 2025 at 14:00 EAT
- Pitching sessions: Date to be announced
- Full Proposal submission: Date to be announced
Application Requirements:
- Applicants must register for the EEP Africa online application platform
- Proposals must be submitted through the online platform
- All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria defined in the CfP2025 Application Guidelines
Grant Financing:
Applicants can apply for grants and repayable grants between EUR 200,000 and EUR 1,000,000. The minimum required co-financing is 30-50% of the total project budget depending on the project phase and company maturity.
Technical Support and Knowledge Sharing:
EEP Africa provides technical support, investment facilitation, and knowledge sharing to help successful projects succeed.
