The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is seeking two highly motivated Analysts to join our Client Relations team in Southern Africa. This position is ideal for emerging professionals who are enthusiastic about contributing to our mission of expanding intra-African trade and increasing Africa’s participation in global trade.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business Origination & Client Engagement
    • Market the Bank’s products and services, particularly the Afreximbank Trade Facilitation Programme (AFTRAF) and financial instruments.
    • Support client prospecting and identify trade finance and structured finance opportunities.
    • Conduct preliminary assessments of financing requests, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s credit and risk policies.
    • Maintain effective communication with clients, managing inquiries, documentation collection, and follow-ups.
    • Assist in drafting term sheets, credit proposals, and transaction-related documentation.
  2. Compliance & Risk Management
    • Gather and review Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) documentation.
    • Support compliance checks to adhere to the Bank’s anti-money laundering (AML) and regulatory policies.
    • Work with internal teams to execute due diligence processes effectively.
    • Maintain records of compliance documentation for audits and reviews.
  3. CRM & Data Management
    • Update and maintain the Client Relationship Management (CRM) system (Salesforce).
    • Generate reports and dashboards to track business development efforts and transaction progress.
    • Ensure accurate documentation and sharing of client-related insights with relevant departments.
  4. Administrative & Coordination Support
    • Organize business meetings, conference calls, and events for the Client Relations team.
    • Prepare meeting minutes, call memos, and back-to-office reports.
    • Collaborate with departments to streamline transaction processing.
    • Support coordination of marketing activities including roadshows and client workshops.
  5. Performance Tracking & Reporting
    • Monitor key performance indicators for the Southern Africa Regional Office and assist in strategic reporting.
    • Track financial transactions, client engagement activities, and operational metrics.
    • Prepare regular performance reports for internal review.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree and Postgraduate degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Professional certifications (CFA, ACCA, FRM) are advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year as an Analyst in banking, financial services, or investment institutions.
    • Exposure to credit analysis, financial modeling, trade finance, and relationship management preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess financial documents and risk factors.
    • Knowledge of financial instruments, trade finance, and banking products.
    • Proficient in CRM systems (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication skills for engagement with stakeholders.
    • High integrity and professionalism while handling sensitive information.

Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the Bank’s AML, Counter Financing of Terrorism, and Conduct Compliance policies.
  • Understand and apply the Bank’s Staff Handbook and related policies.
  • Complete Annual Compliance Training/Assessments and report any suspicious activities.
