Role Purpose
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Crop Protection Development Assistant to support Technical Field Scientists (TFS) in Zambia with technical trial activities, equipment maintenance, and store management.
Key Responsibilities
- Trial Management:
- Execute trials, including accurate chemical product measurement according to protocol.
- Load and prepare equipment and materials necessary for trials.
- Conduct trial pegging, spraying, and harvesting activities.
- Maintain trial sites through proper weed control and other maintenance tasks.
- Data Collection:
- Collect and record relevant data from trials.
- Manage chemical sample storerooms and ensure accurate record-keeping for all products.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and servicing of equipment.
- Ensure proper storage of equipment and maintain hygienic standards.
- Collaboration:
- Support Technical Field Scientists with technical and demonstration trials.
- Collaborate closely with the TFS, Commercial colleagues, and build technical knowledge.
Qualifications
- Academic Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or a related field in agronomy.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Fundamental knowledge of crops, weeds, pests, diseases, and crop protection products.
- Basic understanding of trial principles and pest/disease management.
- Familiarity with digital tools and microscope usage.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Experience:
- Relevant internship or apprenticeship experience is preferred.

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work long hours during peak seasons.
- Maintain a respectful working relationship with farmers and stakeholders.
