Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Deputy Registrar, Human Resources.
This key role, based within the Senior Management Team, is pivotal in managing the University’s human capital to ensure that our staff is effectively recruited, developed, and retained.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate staff recruitment and selection processes.
- Develop, monitor, evaluate, and review Human Resources and Administrative policies and Standard Operating Procedures in conjunction with the Registrar.
- Oversee the creation and review of job descriptions.
- Ensure compliance with Labour Laws, related regulations, and University policies.
- Monitor payroll administration and conduct regular payroll audits.
- Manage staff promotions and advancements.
- Develop and implement staff development programs and human capacity-building initiatives.
- Oversee the performance management system and coordinate staff performance appraisals.
- Manage staff welfare, health, and wellness programs.
- Analyze human resources data and respond to specific stakeholder requests.
- Produce periodic and annual Human Resource and Administration reports.
- Provide guidance to management on staff grievances and disciplinary matters.
- Prepare the annual budget bid and control expenditure.
- Provide secretarial services to Senior Management Selection Boards and University Committees.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Registrar.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Master’s Degree in Strategic Management, Administration, or a related field.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Human Resources Management, or equivalent.
- A qualification from the Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ) is essential.
- Membership of a Professional Board is desirable.
- A minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience, with at least four (4) years in a managerial role within a University setting.
- Proficiency in the Belina Payroll and HR System is required.
- Candidates must demonstrate maturity, high integrity, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, and the capacity to multitask efficiently.
