CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is a leading organization in population health research and programming, focusing on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. We work with a variety of funders including the Wellcome Trust, Gates Foundation, NIH, UK Medical Research Council, Templeton World Charity Foundation, Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria, UNICEF, and UNFPA.

Our partnerships include the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK), Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Childcare, and various international and regional centres of research excellence.


JOB ROLE
The Finance Director will report to the Executive Director and join the Senior Management Team (SMT). This role involves setting and delivering the financial strategy for the organization and managing financial operations across 18 projects funded by 15 different donors, aiming for long-term financial sustainability.

Key responsibilities include establishing effective financial management systems and procedures, translating strategy into actionable steps, and ensuring good financial governance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Develop financial strategies to foster organizational growth.
  • Ensure compliance with national laws, donor regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Oversee annual financial reporting and the external audit process.
  • Provide financial advice and insights to the CeSHHAR Board and SMT.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of financial resources to achieve organizational targets.

Management:

  • Lead the organizational risk profile and financial governance.
  • Authorize contracts and grant agreements.
  • Oversee cash flow management and future planning.
  • Monitor macroeconomic trends impacting operations.
  • Ensure all accounting practices align with International Financial Reporting Standards.

Operations Support:

  • Analyze monthly donor expenditures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Manage procurement processes and internal controls.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships with donors, bankers, and regulatory authorities.

Staff Management:

  • Ensure the Finance Department is structured to align with organizational strategy.
  • Lead and develop the Finance team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certified Accounting professional (CA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized institution is essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years in finance, with at least 5 years in senior management.
  • Experience in finance within NGOs and grants management.
  • Strong leadership skills, financial management, and reporting expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
