CeSHHAR Zimbabwe specializes in population health research and programming, particularly focusing on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. We collaborate closely with various esteemed institutions, including the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK) and Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Childcare, to evaluate national programs and assess the impact and cost-effectiveness of innovative reproductive health interventions.
Job Role Overview:
The Finance Director will report directly to the Executive Director and serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). This role is crucial for developing and executing CeSHHAR’s financial strategy across 18 projects funded by 15 different donors, ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
The incumbent will establish robust financial management systems to coordinate and control resources for implementing activities while translating the organization’s strategic goals into actionable plans for growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational growth and long-term sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with legal and donor requirements while refining policies and procedures for optimized operations.
- Oversee annual financial statements and external audit processes.
- Conduct financial forecasting and analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
- Advise the CeSHHAR Board and SMT on financial status and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure efficient utilization of budgeted resources to meet objectives.
Management:
- Oversee project portfolio management, including budget control and analysis.
- Maintain all accounting systems in alignment with International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Handle organizational risk management and financial governance.
- Supervise team dynamics and maintain staff well-being within the Finance department.
Operations Support:
- Analyze donor expenditure and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage lease agreements, utilities, procurement processes, and ensure payroll integrity.
- Strengthen internal controls and maintain robust relationships with donors and regulatory authorities.
Staff Management:
- Lead and structure the Finance team according to organizational strategy.
- Implement effective safeguards for optimal staff utilization.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certified Accounting Professional (CA, ACCA, CIMA) alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 10 years in finance roles, with at least 5 years at a senior management level. NGO experience especially in project financing is preferred.
- Proven track record in financial management, reporting, and organizational support.
- Strong leadership and analytical skills, coupled with excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities.
