Umguza Rural District Council is dedicated to sustainable development and resource management within our community. We are looking for a motivated GIS Intern to join our team and contribute to our various projects focused on spatial data analysis and mapping.
Position Overview:
As a GIS Intern, you will assist our team in spatial data analysis, mapping, and GIS-based project support. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in collecting, processing, and analyzing geographic data from various sources.
- Support the creation and updating of maps, spatial databases, and other GIS applications.
- Assist in the preparation of GIS-based reports and presentations for project teams.
- Participate in field data collection activities, including GPS data gathering, if applicable.
- Provide general support for GIS-related tasks, as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in GIS or a related field.
- Familiarity with GIS principles and concepts.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong willingness to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and software tools.
