Job Description:
The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) is seeking to hire qualified candidates for the positions of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor within the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. The successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties:
- Leading the development and launch of new academic programs.
- Developing and producing distance Teaching and Open Learning materials, including writing study guides.
- Developing, designing, outlining, reviewing, or rebranding at least one (1) academic program per year.
- Conducting a minimum of two (2) tutorials each semester.
- Engaging in applied research to drive innovations for industrialization.
- Promoting university-wide initiatives and establishing partnerships with industry and local communities.
- Participating in community service activities and collaborating with other faculties.
- Fostering Education 5.0 through innovation and industrialization.
- Engaging in university services and carrying out any other duties assigned by the Chairperson of the Department.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of a Master of Science Degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or Irrigation is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or Irrigation is also required.
- Possession of a PhD in any of the aforementioned areas is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Open and Distance e-Learning would be beneficial.
- Working experience in a university setting, particularly in Open and Distance Learning, is a plus.
- A minimum of two (2) years of post-qualification experience is required.
