POSITION SUMMARY

In line with the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa’s strategy, we are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Consultant. The incumbent will lead the design and execution of targeted approaches to advance collaboration between UNESCO and key partners, including government financing organizations, international and regional financing institutions, and philanthropic entities.

The consultant will work closely with staff across the UNESCO Regional Office in Harare and Country Offices in Maputo and Windhoek.

This role requires an understanding of emerging development trends, resource mobilization strategies, and innovative financing frameworks to cultivate strong partnerships in the Southern Africa region.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a collaborative approach among UNESCO technical staff, the Regional Office Director, and Heads of Country Offices, enhancing engagement with funding partners.
  • Identify and implement strategic partnership management tools that improve visibility and recognition of partner contributions.
  • Contribute to the formulation of UNESCO’s Regional Strategy for Southern Africa (2026-2030), aligning with Resource Mobilization Plans from National Offices.
  • Initiate and facilitate initial dialogues with potential funding partners interested in the Southern Africa region.
  • Lead content development for high-level consultations focused on digital transformation that aligns with existing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Office’s ADM Unit to enhance budget preparation capacity for future funding opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential financing partners to bolster UNESCO’s resource mobilization efforts.
  • Monitor regional trends in development cooperation and analyze implications for UNESCO’s strategic engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, business management, public administration, international relations, or a relevant field.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years in resource mobilization, business development, or planning within the UN or intergovernmental organizations, with a focus on digital transformation being highly desirable.
  • Skills: Proven ability to write compelling content for proposals, build partnerships, present complex information clearly, and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English; proficiency in additional UNESCO languages is desirable.
