Position: Planning Engineer

About the Role:
Freda Rebecca Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an experienced and qualified Planning Engineer to join our Engineering team.
This position reports directly to the Senior Planning Engineer and plays a crucial role in overseeing the management of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and all forms of data relating to engineering documents and records.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of the CMMS, including data related to KPIs, backlog, asset register, and the accuracy and completeness of all engineering work orders.
- Train subordinates and track their career development.
- Enforce Safety, Health, and Environmental standards in line with ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and ISO 9001:2015.
- Plan and review shutdown performance, draft post-mortem reports, and implement corrective action plans.
- Prepare departmental capital, labor, and operational expenditure budgets in collaboration with relevant section heads.
- Compile month-end and year-end closing reports, along with any other reports as required by management.
- Analyze actual departmental costs against budgeted costs for variance analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate contractors and service providers and ensure adherence to FRGM’s code of practice and SHEQ systems.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods in line with Reliability Centred Maintenance strategy.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for all major downtimes and apply action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Select appropriate techniques and logical sequences of activities to complete project scopes in collaboration with Section Engineers.
- Maintain records for all key mining engineering documentation.
About You:
- BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a similar role within the underground trackless gold mining sector.
- Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., ZIE) is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Exceptional team leadership abilities, flexible attitude, and sound work ethics.
- Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and ISO 9001:2015, with a commitment to safe work practices.
