VACANCY
CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organisation dedicated to advancing population health research and programming, particularly in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. We work with a diverse array of funders, including the Wellcome Trust, Gates Foundation, NIH, UK Medical Research Council, Templeton World Charity Foundation, Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria, UNICEF, and UNFPA.
Our close collaborations with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK), Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Childcare, and international and regional research centres aim to evaluate national programmes and ascertain the impact, uptake, and cost-effectiveness of innovative reproductive health interventions.
JOB ROLE
We are seeking a Program Manager to provide strategic leadership for the UK NIHR funded MASCOT and REACT studies:
- MASCOT focuses on developing and evaluating a self-care intervention for HIV and sexual and reproductive health aimed at students in colleges/universities.
- REACT is a tri-country (UK, Zimbabwe, and Nepal) consortium that investigates the resilience of health systems in the face of climate crises.
In this role, the Program Manager will oversee both operational and financial management of the grants, coordinate team and consortium meetings, and manage reporting to funders, as well as monitor key performance indicators.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Duties:
- Implement robust and transparent project governance structures aligned with funder requirements.
- Monitor work plans to ensure the timely completion of deliverables.
- Foster coordination and collaboration between internal and external partners.
- Support grant applications and related funding bids.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards of research projects.
- Represent the Research/Programme teams on internal and external platforms.
- Maintain accounting systems in line with International Financial Reporting Standards.
Programme and Financial Management:
- Monitor budgets and report on expenditure for MASCOT and REACT grants.
- Ensure timely drafting and submission of all reporting commitments to funders, meeting all contract requirements.
- Establish and maintain documentation systems for projects.
- Build relationships with finance, grants, and contracts teams to budget forecast and manage sub-contracts.
- Manage project progress against workplans and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Collaborate with project teams and undertake additional duties as necessary.
Proposal Development:
- Identify new funding opportunities and coordinate proposal development efforts, including drafting sections and budgets.
Communications:
- Develop communication pathways with the CeSHHAR Finance and Research Management Services team.
- Oversee content and updates for the CeSHHAR programme webpages.
- Collaborate with researchers in publishing work in peer-reviewed journals and developing policy briefs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- MSc in Policy Management, Public Health, Population Health, Social Science, Management, or a relevant degree is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing project grants with multiple outputs.
- Financial management training or equivalent experience.
- Proven skills in managing projects within allocated budgets and in planning and forecasting.
- Knowledge of the national and international HIV programme environment and associated data management challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective working relationships across diverse cultures.
- Understanding key research areas focusing on climate, environment, and health.
- High integrity, professionalism, and commitment to CeSHHAR values.
