Job Title: Statistician
Divisional Allocation:
- 1 post in Demography and Social Statistics Division

- 4 posts in Statistical Services Division
Location: Harare
Reporting to: Harare Statistical Manager
Job Purpose:
The Statistician will play a crucial role in the Agency’s mission by ensuring the integrity, quality, and usability of data collected for various analyses. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning, analyzing, and conducting quality control checks throughout the data collection processes.
By maintaining high standards in data management, the Statistician will help facilitate informed decision-making to achieve the Agency’s objectives.
Qualifications, Experience, Attributes, and Competences:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
a. Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Demography with a quantitative bias from a recognized University.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
b. Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience in a statistics-related field, demonstrating proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
c. Attributes and Competences:
- High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all analysis and reports.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity.
- Proficient computer literacy, including experience with statistical software and data management tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will perform the following essential duties:
a. Data Management:
- Clean, analyze, and prepare data for further analysis, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
b. Quality Control:
- Conduct rigorous quality control checks throughout the data collection process to ensure adherence to established standards.
c. Data Processing:
- Code, edit, and process data efficiently, preparing datasets for reporting.
d. Survey Instruments:
- Draft survey instruments and work plans to guide data collection efforts.
e. Statistical Output:
- Tabulate and present statistical outputs in a clear and concise manner, aiding in the understanding of data trends and findings.
f. Report Writing:
- Compile comprehensive reports detailing analysis findings, statistical methodologies, and implications for policy and practice.
