Bindura University of Science Education invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following vacancies within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Department of Engineering and Physics:
Position: Teaching Assistants – Mining Engineering (2 Posts)
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing/Metallurgical Engineering, Geological/Geotechnical Engineering, or an equivalent field, with a minimum classification of Lower Second (2.2).
- Teaching assistant experience at the tertiary level or practical industry experience related to mining is desirable.
- Membership in a professional body, such as the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers, is also considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibility of the teaching assistants is to support the course instructor in delivering course materials effectively and creating a conducive learning environment for students. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting faculty with lecture room instruction, record-keeping, and assignments.
- Holding office hours for student consultations.
- Leading group projects and discussions.
- Grading assignments and papers.
- Managing course communications.
- Preparing materials for laboratory sessions.
- Providing constructive feedback on assignments.
- Enforcing laboratory rules and procedures.
- Participating in university initiatives related to Teaching, Research, Community Engagement, Innovation, and Industrialization to contribute to the goals of Education 5.0.
