Context:
UNDP Zimbabwe is dedicated to supporting the Government of Zimbabwe in eradicating poverty, reducing inequality, and promoting sustainable development. As part of this mission, we’re implementing the Climate Adaptation Water and Energy Programme (CAWEP) to enhance climate resilience in vulnerable communities. This role will further our commitments to the Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, you will:
- Generate and update project site profiles and communicate project stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Assist in organizing public events such as seminars, press conferences, and outreach campaigns.
- Develop and manage a communications and knowledge management system for the project.
- Engage actively on social media, producing at least weekly content for UNDP global platforms.
- Lead the timely creation of visibility and communication materials.
- Support in writing and editing project reports.
Additionally, you will have opportunities to enhance the understanding of volunteerism through community engagement.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age:Â 18 – 80 years
- Experience:Â Minimum of 3 years in communications or related fields.
- Nationality:Â Must be a national or legal resident of Zimbabwe.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Journalism, Mass Communication, Social Studies, or a related field.
- Languages:Â Fluent in English (required); working knowledge of Shona and/or Sindebele (desirable).
Competencies and Skills:
- Strong background in corporate communications, public relations, and event management.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in document design, photography, video production, and social media management.
- Competent in using tools like Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office Suite.
General Capacities:
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal and multicultural team collaboration abilities.
Living Conditions and Remarks:
Zimbabwe offers a diverse climate with various seasons. Harare, the capital, provides essential services and amenities. The currency used is USD, and basic necessities are readily available.
